All from 9 and the Last from 10

Share:

This sutra is fundamental for subtraction and is used in many other techniques. It's a simple rule for subtracting any number from a power of 10 (like 100, 1000, 10000).

The Golden Rule 🔑

"Subtract all digits from 9, and the very last digit from 10."

Example: 1000 - 476

  1. First digit (4): 9 - 4 = 5
  2. Second digit (7): 9 - 7 = 2
  3. Last digit (6): 10 - 6 = 4

So, 1000 - 476 = 524. That's it!
