3. Count the Tens:
The fingers to the LEFT of the folded finger are the 'tens'. There are 2 fingers.
4. Count the Ones:
The fingers to the RIGHT of the folded finger are the 'ones'. There are 7 fingers.
The answer is 27!

This is a magical rule that is always true. The two digits of any answer in the 9s table always **add up to 9**!
9 x 2 = 18 👉 1 + 8 = 9
9 x 5 = 45 👉 4 + 5 = 9
9 x 8 = 72 👉 7 + 2 = 9
💡 The 'One Less' Pattern
This trick helps you find the first digit of the answer instantly. The first digit is always **one less** than the number you are multiplying by!
For 9 x 7...
The first digit is one less than 7, which is 6.
Since the digits must add up to 9 (from the trick above), what plus 6 equals 9? It's 3.
So the answer is 63!
➖ Build Down From 10s Trick
Multiplying by 9 is just one group less than multiplying by 10. This is a great mental math shortcut.
How to solve 9 x 8:
First, think of 10 x 8 = 80.
Then, just take away one group of 8!
80 - 8 = 72
